Our Story
The Iris Society of Australia was formed in 1948 by Royce Spinkston of South Australia and Tom Piper of Tasmania. It took off quickly, soon having members around the world. Not long after this, the Australian Iris Society became The Australian and New Zealand Iris Society, then became The Iris Society of Australia when the New Zealand Iris Society was established. Today it is the umbrella association for the regional associations. We are a not for profit organisation.
